Smart membranes for oil/water emulsions separation: A review

چکیده

Oily wastewater poses a significant impact on both environments and human societies. Especially, the treatment of oil/water emulsions for separating oil from water is challenging due to high stability emulsions. Smart membranes, known as stimuli-responsive are one emerging technologies that have been paid wide attention in recent years. membranes possess unique features switchable wettability between hydrophilicity hydrophobicity after being triggered by external stimuli desired anti-fouling properties. This review summarizes development smart separation during past five years (2018 – present). It was found solvent most popular type separation. For multi-stimuli-responsive can respond more than stimulus, future research should focus developing appropriate fabrication strategies increase performances membranes. Additionally, surface coating, grafting, copolymer blending methods fabrication. However, these might not be universally applicable different types
